Slightly over two years ago Rob took a trip to Canada. At the time we were employees at the same company, and we had crossed paths a few times, which I do not mind to tell you left my heart beating about 100x's faster than it should. He was funny, he was nice, he made me laugh really hard, and he had such a cute smile. All I knew was that I had a big crush on this guy. It had been just Mr. Aiden and I for sometime, and I had been struggling with loneliness heavily that prior summer. That late summer, and early fall I began my prayers for someone good, someone kind, loving, believing in God and His power, someone with a good heart, someone that might love my son, and myself. I was diligent in prayer. I had no idea who I was praying for, but, I was praying that someday God might bless me with the perfect man for me.
I had no idea Rob had been praying the same prayer, of course for a woman. Back to my story, Rob and I had crossed paths, and laughed a few times...we both walked away and knew we had a little crush. I believed, just as he did that nothing would come from the innocent flirtation, and as a girl I had hoped many times he might ask me to lunch, ask me to anything! But, he never did. In fact, he left me in the rain once! (that'll come in another blog).
Well, this trip to Canada Rob took...I had noticed I hadn't seen him around work in a few weeks, and I didn't think much of it until I stumbled upon these AMAZING maple creme cookies!!! I thought someone in the office just brought them in, and all I know to tell you is that I ate my fair share of them! Then, I looked up from my desk...there was Rob! People were asking him how his trip was, and I remember thinking "what trip???". He had been in Canada for 2 weeks! Well, as I said I noticed he was gone...I made a comment aloud as he was standing there about the amazing maple creme cookies...guess where they came from?!? CANADA!!! Jokingly, I said..." I want my own box!"
Fast forward a bit to the next day...I came back to my desk after working with a patient to find my very own box of maple creme cookies straight from Canada!! And, there was Rob, ahead of my desk..I thanked him of course, and I was completely shocked he remembered my comment from the day prior. He remembered ME! Hum...I loved him.
This trip to Canada was more than maple creme cookies, and I had no idea at the time. But, Rob finally told me...he was praying in Canada. He was interested in me, but, he wanted to really think, and pray about me...and my son. He wanted to ensure he was ok with asking me out. He wanted to ensure he was ok with seeing someone who had a child. That is a true man right there. A man who took time to make sure what he was doing was ok with his heart, and soul. Needless to say, Rob asked me to lunch in the coming weeks, and here we are.
God blessed me with an amazing man, and I stopped today to thank God for his trip to Canada a bit over two years ago...
